our intern program
The Dayton International Peace Museum is proud to partner with the Austrian Service Abroad program to host young Austrian interns for a 10-month peace service experience. Founded in 1992, Austrian Service Abroad was established as an alternative to military or civilian service, allowing young Austrians to support peace, Holocaust remembrance, and social initiatives around the world. Through our partnership, interns contribute to our exhibits, events, and educational initiatives while immersing themselves in U.S. culture, improving their English skills, and connecting with the Dayton community. This collaboration brings an invaluable international perspective to our work, fostering cross-cultural understanding in pursuit of peace.
As of now (November 2024), we have welcomed four Austrian Abroad Servants at the International Peace Museum:
-
Andreas (2021-2022)
-
Daniel (2022-2023)
-
Gabriel (2023-2024)
-
